Dusky Lodge strictly prohibits bookings from individuals under the age of 18 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The following guidelines apply:
Accompanied Under 18’s
Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to stay in a private room.
The hostel does not provide cots, or baby cribs.
Unaccompanied Under 18’s in Groups:
Unaccompanied guests under the age of 18 are not allowed to stay in shared rooms unless the entire room is booked by their group.
We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice prior to arrival for all cancellations or amendments to reservations free of charge. Cancellations and no-shows after this time will incur a fee equivalent to the first night's stay. Changes to the arrival date, departure date, or room type of the reservation are subject to availability at the time the amendment is requested.
Guests who have booked through online agents such as Booking.com must process cancellations via the agent before Dusky Lodge can formally cancel the booking.
Check-in is from 2PM, and check-out is at 10 AM. We can also arrange for after-hours check-in upon request before your arrival.
Our reception is open daily from 9AM to 6PM. We have an on-site night manager available for after-hours assistance. The contact number can be found on reception desk.
Yes, we do! These rooms cannot be booked online. Please contact our reception directly to inquire about availability and to make a reservation.
Yes, we offer group bookings at Dusky Lodge. A reservation of 10 guests or more is considered a group booking and cannot be made through our website. For group bookings, please contact our Groups Coordinator at [email protected].
Yes, we are dog-friendly! There will be a charge for your furry friend. Please contact our reservations team by email or phone to arrange your accommodation booking with your pet.
Yes! Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel.
Yes, we do! Free parking is available at the front and back of the property.
The nearest supermarket is New World, which is a 10-minute walk or a 1-minute drive from the hostel.
The hostel is a short walk from the Intercity bus stop in Kaikoura, approximately 15-20 minutes.
To get to the hostel, head north on West End towards Coopers Catch. Turn right at the bridge onto Beach Road. Continue along Beach Road, and you'll see Dusky Lodge on your left-hand side, just past the Caltex garage.
Yes, we supply all your bed sheets. Towels are included only in our private rooms. You can hire a towel from reception for a small charge.
Yes, we offer baggage storage for early arrivals and late departures.
No, we do not have laundry facilities on-site. However, there is a laundromat available just a 5-minute walk from the hostel.
Absolutely! Our reception staff can help you book local tours, activities, and provide recommendations for the best things to do in the area.
